Who Do We Help?
Children who are victims of sexual and interpersonal violence, including cases where the children witnessed abuse.
Our Services
Advocates provide a model of healthy parenting skills and work with the parents to develop safety plans for their children. As needed, we meet regularly with individual children to support them through this difficult time and provide them with information or education about living within a family experiencing violence.
- Crisis intervention
- Counseling
- Referrals to other services that are specific to the child’s needs
- Advocacy with other agencies
- Age-appropriate safety planning
- Activity groups while adult caregivers are in session
Child survivors are able to see a physician specially-trained in sexual assault and receive a medical exam right here in Hendersonville, within 24-48 hours of the incident, rather than having to wait weeks for an appointment in another county.
The ability to have the medical exam and forensic interview during the same appointment will reduce further trauma to the child and preserve vital evidence needed for court trials and prosecution.
