Community-Based Prevention Education

We provide prevention education and training in our communities to create social change that breaks the cycle of violence, builds healthy relationships, stops bullying and ends teen dating violence.

Participants gain experience and strengthen interpersonal skills while receiving additional services for themselves and their families.

These internships help create financial stability for trauma survivors while bulding workforce development within our community.

School-based education

An important part of our mission at Safelight is to educate the public, starting at a young age, on ways to build healthy relationships, stop bullying and end teen dating violence.

Our trained staff provide a variety of education opportunities in and out of the school setting that are age and gender appropriate.

General Public/Professionals

Education and training focuses on increasing knowledge about the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, including child abuse. Trainings focus on trauma informed responses to survivors and information about community resources related to:

  • child sexual abuse prevention
  • domestic violence and intimate partner violence
  • effects of violence on children
  • sexual violence
  • family violence and the court system

Safe Dates is a curriculum for local schools. The goal of this program is to raise students' knowledge of abusive dating relationships and equip them with skills to develop positive communication, anger management and conflict resolution.

Darkness to Light is a training curriculum that aims to raise awareness of the prevalence and consequences of child sexual abuse by educating adults about the steps they can take to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to the reality of child sexual abuse.
