How Do We Help?

Our counselors and advocates understand your needs and the circumstances involved in intimate partner violence.

We offer support in a secure, nonjudgmental environment where families, individuals and children can learn to keep themselves safe and access appropriate services. We help you rebuild your life, build your self-esteem and empower you with the self-sufficiency skills you need to live a life free of abuse.

  • 24-Hour Response Line
    If you or someone you know has experienced any form of interpersonal violence, Safelight provides a 24-hour crisis line that offers help and support.
  • Counseling
    Completely confidential, free counseling sessions are available for all women, men, and children who have ever experienced the trauma of interpersonal violence.
  • Case Management
    Each survivor and his or her circumstances is different and Safelight recognizes the need for appropriate community referrals. A staff member will assist each survivor as they work toward overcoming the interpersonal violence by identifying needs of the whole person and helping the survivor access needed community resources.
  • Emergency Shelter
    We offer more than a safe place to stay. Services are available for free to survivors of interpersonal violence in shelter and outreach (non-shelter). At the present time, the shelter is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Victim's Compensation
    Advocates will help the survivor determine eligibility and file the proper paperwork to receive compensation for lost wages, medical expenses, etc.
  • Address Confidentiality
    Trained assistants can help file paperwork to keep your current address confidential. Mail will be delivered to an address of your choice rather than your street address.
  • Support Groups
    Various weekly support groups are provided, free of charge, to survivors of interpersonal violence in shelter and outreach (non-shelter). Groups facilitators provide a supportive environment for participants to discuss issues which promote physical and emotional healing.
